About Lily

I came to therapy as a client myself. At a time in my life when I was struggling and felt very alone, a friend suggested seeing a therapist, and I was lucky enough to find a wonderful therapist who was a good fit for me. He helped me learn how my experiences growing up in my family and in between two cultures shaped who I am today. He helped me learn about how my feelings, thoughts, and beliefs interact with each other and shape how I relate to myself and the world.

My own therapeutic journey has been deeply growthful and healing, and led me to want to do this work. I feel honored that my clients are willing to share their inner selves with me, and trust me with their inner lives. It is not easy being open and honestly vulnerable with another person, but I firmly believe that a large part of our suffering is due to loneliness and isolation, and that letting someone empathically witness, support, and help us through our difficulties is the path to healing and growth.

My therapeutic perspective is warmly Humanistic, grounded in Psychodynamic theory and I work in an engaged, Relational way. I believe that we learn to relate from our families, so use Attachment Theory and Internalized Family Systems in my work. I believe in incorporating mind, body, and spirit so draw from Somatic and Transpersonal Psychology.

I have specialized training in several different modalities. I have trauma training in EMDR and body based somatic training in the Hakomi method. Couples therapy requires a specialized set of skills different from individual therapy, so I have completed the Advanced Core Skills Training in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples as well as training in Collaborative Couples Therapy.
